2010-01-26 Some Decoding Progress |
|
Hello everybody, I know it seems that progress is a little slowed especially with several of our major members out of action due to real life issues, but progress is being made. I have made some significant strides in the last few weeks. Though not fully tested, we know enough to create our own locked doors and chests and their corresponding keys. In addition, we can change what the books and labels that are displayed by books, plaques, signs, and banners. It may even be possible for us to add in new book entries, now that they can be added into the game world. The biggest bits of progress in last few days have actually come from the NPC file where we can now change hitpoints, mana level, which pre-defined AI is used, invulnerability, damage, and map location/position. Also there is a lot of potential for further decoding of this file. In any case, the game can now be more effectively balanced to make it far more challenging than ever before. In fact, at some point, different difficulty settings may be added into the game. Unfortunately, I don't have the time right now to work on anything but decoding and world design, but if you are interested in creating different difficulty patches, you can contact me either by PM (Sir Iceblade) at our forum at the Titans of Ether Boards or by emailing us at our yahoo account: forgottenworld2 - Iceblade Project Lead, FW Designer, Ultima 9 Decoder |

2010-01-04 Thanks for your interest |

I'm very sorry to say this, but I have to leave "Team Forgotten World" again, and this time it will be definitly. Several important "Real Life" Events forces me to do this, I have to accept the fact, that my "real life situation" simply not allows to work on such a fantastic project as "Forgotten World" will be. But I will slowly continue working on "Beautiful Britannia", which is only a simple upgrade to UIX, without story changes and other major improvements, as "Forgotten World" will provide. And when the time comes, where I will get to an playable product, I will simply provide "Beautiful Britannia" for Download on "Ultima: Aiera", but this will not happen within the next 5 years. And because of the very limited time I will have for creating "Beautiful Britannia", there will be no new screens or other information on it for a long, long time. I only can hope that you can understand my situation. Please continue to support "Team Forgotten World" in their effort to create the "true" UIX. Thanks Firstknight |

2009-12-02 Beautiful Britannia - Demo 2009 released! |
|
First, a big THANKS to WTFDragon for hosting the demo! The download link can be found here: Forgotten World - Project Site on Ultima: Aiera Install instructions: * Unzip the Demo into a folder of your choice * Install the VB6 Runtime Files * Start Launcher.exe * Define your UIX Install Dir (the Launcher makes a suggestion by reading the registry) * Restart the Launcher once, now it's ready for use
Usage: * Select the Map * Select your starting point (I recommend Yew, it's the most finished part) * For the "Disable Fog" Mode you need a savegame * Try out different settings for view distance and quality, especially when in "Disable Fog" Mode * Start the game
If someone wants to send comments, I recommend posting a reply to the entry on Ultima Aiera, I will stop by there frequently and will also answer questions there. Firstknight |
